Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Planvoy is a trip planning app for iOS that helps groups coordinate travel together. This policy explains what information the app and its backend collect and how it is used.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Email address — collected when you create an account. Used solely for authentication (sign-in and one-time verification codes). We do not use your email for marketing.
• Name — collected when you create an account. Displayed to members of trips you join or create.
• Trip content — travel dates, destinations, flights, hotels, dining reservations, activities, and other trip details you enter. Stored securely and accessible only to members of your trip.
• Profile photo — optionally uploaded. Displayed to your trip members as your avatar. Stored securely in private cloud storage.
• Photos — you may optionally upload photos in the Chronicle feature. Photos are stored securely and accessible only to members of your trip.
• Packing list — stored locally on your device only. Not transmitted to our servers or shared with other users.
• App diagnostics — crash reports and performance metrics collected automatically. This data contains device model, OS version, and stack traces. It is used exclusively to identify and fix bugs.

3. How We Use Your Information

Each category of data is used only for the purpose it was collected:

• Email and name → account creation, authentication, and display to trip members
• Trip content → displaying your trip plan to you and your trip members
• Photos → display within your trip's Chronicle journal to your trip members
• Diagnostics → app stability and performance improvements

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

4. Calypso AI Assistant

Planvoy includes Calypso, an AI travel assistant powered by Anthropic's Claude API. When you use Calypso, your conversation messages and trip details (destinations, dates, existing bookings) are transmitted to Anthropic's servers to generate responses. Anthropic's use of this data is governed by their Privacy Policy. We do not use Calypso conversation data for any purpose beyond generating responses to your requests.

5. Third-Party Services

Planvoy integrates with the following third-party services to provide certain features. In each case, only the minimum necessary data is transmitted:

• FlightAware — used for real-time flight status tracking when you add a flight to a trip and have enabled Flight Data Sharing. Your flight number and date are sent to retrieve status updates.
• Anthropic (Claude) — used to power the Calypso AI travel assistant, as described in Section 4 above.

6. Data Not Linked to Your Identity

Diagnostic data is collected in aggregate and does not include your name, email, or any persistent identifier linked back to you as an individual.

7. Data Retention

Your account data (email, trip content, photos) is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below, or through the in-app account deletion option. Diagnostic data is retained for a rolling 90-day period.

8. Children's Privacy

Planvoy is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
